A citizenship application becomes more complex when the family does not live under one roof—or one legal system. Citizenship by investment divorce cases require more than a marriage certificate and a passport. They may involve custody orders, parental consent, child-support records, adoption documents, different surnames, and court decisions from several countries.
The child’s best interest and the program’s documentary rules must both be respected. An adviser cannot assume that one parent’s investment decision automatically permits the child’s inclusion.

The application should begin with a jurisdiction map. Where was the marriage registered? Where was the divorce granted? Which country issued the custody order? Where does the child live? Each document may require translation, legalisation, attestation, or a current certified copy. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains that attestation routes depend on whether a document was issued inside or outside the UAE and on the document type 1.
Do not wait until the government asks for consent. A missing signature or unclear custody order can interrupt the whole family file. If the other parent is unavailable, uncooperative, or legally restricted, an immigration lawyer should review the position before any investment is made.
